Some dreams you wake from... Some dreams you live!
( Dreams You Give, Brian Plunkett, Halfway, MO)
NASA has come up with this wonderful promotional idea for the last Space Shuttle Mission. They invited song writers to submit original songs that would be used to wake the astronauts each morning during the Space Shuttle mission.
This is an absolutely brilliant idea. The title of my favorite song is posted above. A family recorded the song and you can hear the children singing it. On the NASA Web site, you can see how many people from various countries submitted songs. Here are some stats of how many songs were submitted by various countries:
U.S. - 693; Canada - 105; Brazil - 24; Peru - 19; Argentina - 16; Chile - 12.
Moving to the other side of the world, we find China submitted 4 songs; Russia - 21; Australia - 16; New Zealand - 17; Spain - 52 (And Spain has one of the two finalists!); France - 19; United Kingdom - 45; India - 11; Iran - 5 (!!!!); Nigeria - 3; Japan - 27!
Just in case anyone thought the space shuttle launches didn't have universal appeal.
Now - how about a song for the mission to colonize Mars?
You can hear the top ten finalists at this site:

We whole-heartedly agree that this contest is a wonderful affirmation that the Shuttle Program has a broad following! We're honored to have our song, Dreams You Give, in position to be played to wake up the Endeavor astronauts. We're glad you like it! Happy Launching! The Plunketts

I'm so excited to hear from you! I think you're on your way to the big time. Love your song! The Shuttle will launch Monday, but I'm going to be playin your song all weekend and telling everyone to vote for it! Tell me about your group if you have time.... Wendy
